MYSPACE & BEBO: LET THE ORIGINAL MUSIC SERIES BEGIN...

Music helped to build both Bebo and MySpace, and smartly, both networks are continuing to feed their musical ambitions. Just this week, both companies started the wheels on original content series, a stab at greater stickiness and engagement.

In the UK and Ireland, the AOL-owned Bebo is now partnering with Samsung Mobile UK and production company Endemol to create a new online music series called Beat. The 'magazine-style' series, which starts June 19th, will feature emerging artists, and encourage interactivity. Beat will also feature performances, interviews, tour blogs, music news, and competitions.

MySpace is also doing something similar. The MySpace Music Feed will feature a weekly dose of video content, including performance clips, interviews, and other vignettes. It also includes recommendations on newly-release music. The inaugural installment starts Thursday, and features Eminem. The action, sponsored by McDonald's McCafe coffees, is now live at myspace.com/myspacemusicfeed.
